The Committee

The Group Executive Committee plays a vital role in the running of our Scout Group. Our Executive Committee makes decisions and carry out administrative tasks to ensure that the best quality Scouting can be delivered to young children.

It is at the AGM that we establish our Scout Group Executive Committee. The Committee is an opportunity for parents (and other members of the community) to contribute to the ongoing running of the Group; offering support to the Leaders who give up so much of their time, as well as serving a practical purpose running of the group and offering assistance needed to those Leaders.

Being involved in the Scout Group Executive Committee is very worthwhile and the Leaders greatly value the support shown by all its members. Being a member can be as involved as you wish; from attending the 3 or 4 meetings we have a year, to holding an official position such as Chair or Secretary.

The Group Executive is made up of four types of members:

  • Ex-officio members have a role on the Committee due to their role in Scouting. These
    include:

    • Group Scout Leader
    • Group Chair
    • Group Treasurer
    • Group Secretary
    • Assistant Group Scout Leader
    • Beaver Scout Leader
    • Cub Scout Leader
    • Scout Leader
    • Explorer Scout Leader
  • Elected members stand for election at the Annual General Meeting and are elected by the Group Scout Council to take on the role
  • Nominated members are nominated by the Group Scout Leader in partnership with the Group Chair and approved at the Annual General Meeting
  • Co-opted members are chosen to take on a role by the Group Executive Committee due to specific skills or knowledge useful to the committee

We are so grateful to those who have served on the Committee for the past 12 months and hope they can continue to do so into the future.
